Proud Ponies 2023

We all have a lot to be proud of, so whether you’re a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community here for the parade, or simply proud to be a Brony among friends, we will have something for everypony!

The Parade starts at 10:45am so the usual timings are adjusted accordingly;

0930-1000: Pre-meet at Starbucks Temple Quay (to gather people ahead of time)

1000-1015: Walk over to Castle Park (band stand end) before the parade starts

1045-1145: Pride Parade

1200-1700: Boardroom function room for the rest of the day…

If anyone wants to go to the pride day concert at the Downs after the parade you are more than welcome – please do try and go as a group so no-one gets left out. Let us know in the morning so we can gauge numbers as we may need to adjust plans accordingly.

For those wanting more Pony, we will have the usual selection of games, episodes, jackbox, and so on at The Boardroom… and of course bring all the plushies and any entertainment, games, etc you’d like to share too!

By train

The nearest railway station is Bristol Temple Meads (approx. 440 feet away).

Upon arriving at Temple Meads, continue straight ahead after exiting the ticket barrier and leave via the side entrance into the Temple Meads car park. The Starbucks is located in a row of shops on the other side of the car park.

By bus

Most local buses will stop in proximity to Bristol Temple Meads. Use the First Bus website to find the best route for you.

Bristol Bus and Coach Station is 0.9 miles away. If opting not to walk, go to the bus stop on Nelson Street (B3), and from there catch the number 8 bus to Bristol Temple Meads (5 stops).

By car

The nearest parking is at Bristol Temple Meads, which has both indoor and outdoor parking spaces available at different day rates, and free parking for motorcycles.

Also nearby are the council-operated Temple Gate car park (0.3 miles away) and the Bristol First Hotel car park (0.2 miles away), the latter of which has a four hour maximum stay.

Bristol Temple Meads railway station has free short stay parking for up to 20 minutes—which may be useful for quick drop offs or pick ups—located at the front of the station.

By bike

A large amount of on-street cycle parking is located directly outside of the Starbucks. Sheltered (but not enclosed) bicycle parking is present nearby towards Temple Meads.

Wheelchairs

We typically meet in the upstairs area of this Starbucks, which is not wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair and plan to attend, please give us a heads up and we’ll aim to congregate downstairs instead.

The entrance doors to this Starbucks are a split design and may be difficult to operate from a wheelchair. There is a call button on the outside of the door for those requiring assistance.

By train

The nearest railway station is Bristol Temple Meads (0.8 miles away).

From there you may walk, or from outside the main entrance of the station catch the number 8 bus to Cabot Circus South (S14) (3 stops).

By bus

Given the central location of the park next to Broadmead and Cabot Circus shopping areas, most local buses will stop in proximity to Castle Park. Use the First Bus website to find the best route for you.

Bristol Bus and Coach Station is located a short walk away (0.4 miles away).

By car

The nearest car park is the The Galleries Shopping Centre (about 360 feet away). Also nearby is NCP Bristol Nelson Street (around 650 feet away) and NCP Bristol Broadmead (1,100 feet).

By bike

There are on-street bike racks just outside the park, at the junction of Wine Street, Union Street and Newgate, outside of Caffé Nero.

By ferry

Castle Park has a ferry station, Castle Park Landing, on the south side of the park. There are regular waterbuses from here towards Temple Meads and to multiple areas around the Harbour on most days of the year.

Wheelchairs

Most areas of Castle Park are wheelchair accessible, however there are stairs and hills dotted throughout. The area we usually meet, outside of the ruins of St. Peter’s Church, has the easiest step-free access from the Wine Street/Union Street/Newgate direction.

Toilets

Castle Park does not have on-site toilets.

The nearest publicly accessible toilet facilities are in The Galleries shopping centre on the first and second floors. The disabled toilets require a RADAR key for access.

By train

The nearest railway station is Bristol Temple Meads (0.7 miles away).

By bus

The Boardroom is located in central Bristol, with numerous routes passing nearby on nearby Victoria Street and Union Street. Use the First Bus website to find the best route for you.

By car

Be aware that The Boardroom is located in Bristol’s Old City, large areas of which have recently been pedestrianised and closed to general traffic. Plan your journey ahead of time to ensure that you don’t get stuck or fined for entering a vehicle-restricted zone.

The nearest car park is the NCP Bristol Queen Charlotte Street (approx. 450 feet away), followed by NCP Bristol Nelson Street (0.3 miles away).

Blue Badge holders may park in any on-street parking in the area for an unlimited time and free of charge.

Free motorcycle parking is available on St Nicholas Street and on the corner of Baldwin Street and Queen Charlotte Street (approx. 300 feet away).

By bike

Bicycle parking is available on St Nicholas Street a few doors down from The Boardroom, and on the corner of Baldwin Street and Queen Charlotte Street (approx. 300 feet away).

The Boardroom’s function room is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The Boardroom also does not have wheelchair accessible toilets in any part of the venue.

Toilets

A single unisex toilet is located adjacent to the function room.

Gender segregated toilets are located on the basement level of the venue and are free to use.
