Wait, what?

Yeah, our intrepid Cardiff meet organiser Skydream and her equally-intrepid backup-organiser husband Greenhoof are both unavailable because… *checks notes* they’re helping run a furry convention? Wow, weird.

So yeah, I’ve risen from the grave, stepped up, stepped in, and pulled myself up with my own petard to run the Cardiff brony meet. It’s like 2015 all over again!

Meet plan

From 11am until noon we’ll be congregating at the Pret a Manger opposite the main entrance to Cardiff Central railway station. It’s easy to find, it’s the big building with “BBC Cymru” written on it.

Between noon and 1pm we’ll grab lunch. This is a bit of a free for all. You can split up, stay together, go in groups, or go it alone, just get some grub in ya.

From 1pm onwards we have a table booked at Geek Retreat in Morgan Arcade. T’is but a stone’s throw away, but if you’re unsure of where it is, probably best to stick with someone experienced. It’s very underground, you’ve probably never heard of it.

Cardiff Transport Interchange, due to open in Spring 2023, will be located directly outside the north entrance to Cardiff Central.

Geek Retreat is located within Cardiff’s main shopping district, and is well served by public transportation.

By train

The nearest railway station is Cardiff Central (0.3 miles away).

From there, the walk is approximately five minutes, most of which is along pedestrianised streets.

By bus

The nearest bus stops are Royal Hotel (Westgate Street); Wyndham Arcade (St. Mary Street); Lower St. Mary Street; and Canal Street, all of which are about 0.2 miles away.

Cardiff Transport Interchange, which is due to open in Sprint 2023, will be about 0.3 miles away.

Wheelchairs

Geek Retreat has a ground level entrance, however the majority of the store is situated on the basement level. There is a wheelchair lift between the ground and basement levels.

The basement level is completely step-free. There are some relatively narrow corridors between the entrance of and main area of the basement.

Toilets

Geek Retreat has three public toilets, all of which are located on the basement level:

A unisex toilet, with two stalls, located in the main area of the store.

A women’s only toilet, located in the main area of the store.

A disabled toilet, located near the entrance to the basement level.
