The Rainbow Rewind

With Season 5 still on the sidelines for another several months and nothing more to sate us than Rainbow Rocks, we deem it a reasonable time for a little retrospective on how we got this far…

The nights are long and winter is drawing in, so we have a venue-centric meet for your delectation this month.

Meet Plan

It’s the same thing we do every night, Pinkie.

11:00am–11:30am Starbucks

Meet at the ‘Bucks, as always.

11:30am–1:00pm The Knight’s Templar

Consume booze and alcohol, as always.

1:00pm–5:00pm Hydra Books

Hydra Books now, in addition to coffee and smoothies, now sells a selection of fair trade soft drinks. Good for the few of you lacking in a caffeine bone.

As many games as Hydra can handle

We don’t tend to have much luck with getting tabletop games going at Hydra Books, as we’re often just too crowded to really take advantage of them. Maybe this time.

5:00pm–7:30pm Forbidden Planet or Christmas Market

While we’ve explored the Bristol Christmas Markets before, but this might be a good time to do it again! Those less inclined towards gulping down hot German sausage are invited to go to our usual haunt of Forbidden Planet for their quota of delicious geeky goodness.

7:30pm–10:00pm The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

I volunteer as tribute! We’ll hopefully be catching the third instalment of the Hunger Games movie franchise for our late night movie viewing.

Notes

Students from the University of the West of England will be attending this meet to film items for a university project. As usual, if you do not wish to take part, then state so clearly.

By train

The nearest railway station is Bristol Temple Meads (approx. 440 feet away).

Upon arriving at Temple Meads, continue straight ahead after exiting the ticket barrier and leave via the side entrance into the Temple Meads car park. The Starbucks is located in a row of shops on the other side of the car park.

By bus

Most local buses will stop in proximity to Bristol Temple Meads. Use the First Bus website to find the best route for you.

Bristol Bus and Coach Station is 0.9 miles away. If opting not to walk, go to the bus stop on Nelson Street (B3), and from there catch the number 8 bus to Bristol Temple Meads (5 stops).

By car

The nearest parking is at Bristol Temple Meads, which has both indoor and outdoor parking spaces available at different day rates, and free parking for motorcycles.

Also nearby are the council-operated Temple Gate car park (0.3 miles away) and the Bristol First Hotel car park (0.2 miles away), the latter of which has a four hour maximum stay.

Bristol Temple Meads railway station has free short stay parking for up to 20 minutes—which may be useful for quick drop offs or pick ups—located at the front of the station.

By bike

A large amount of on-street cycle parking is located directly outside of the Starbucks. Sheltered (but not enclosed) bicycle parking is present nearby towards Temple Meads.

Wheelchairs

We typically meet in the upstairs area of this Starbucks, which is not wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair and plan to attend, please give us a heads up and we’ll aim to congregate downstairs instead.

The entrance doors to this Starbucks are a split design and may be difficult to operate from a wheelchair. There is a call button on the outside of the door for those requiring assistance.

Toilets

A wheelchair accessible toilet is available on the ground floor.
